Re: AUs

I like the idea of AUs, but they rarely work out well. Either the AU setting itself is old hat, (e.g. coffee shop, high school) or it's so poorly done that it seems pointless to call it AU because no effort has been put into the new setting. Or it's so OOC that it might as well be original fiction because it bears so little resemblance to the characters.

Yeah, these are the exact reasons why I tend to not like AU's. :/ I usually find that fics fall in the third category.
