I'm marginally better using multiple references, but it's still kind of awkward. Now, black and white still life I'm pretty good at. I have the physical ability, just not the mental imaging.

Could you verbally trace out a picture you want to draw, point by point (sort of how he describes his writing process in the article). So you could maybe record it bullet point by bullet point, and then draw it out one bit at a time?

You're welcome and I'm sorry? It's awesome to know and for me it opened up a whole world of understanding (Basic math! "Picture that you have twelve apples and then visualize someone reaching in and taking away two apples how many apples do you see?" ".... uuuh...." ) And helped me make peace with the fact I'm going to suck at some things and it's not my fault. It also helped me figure out workarounds that didn't rely on visual memory.

At the same time it did hurt for a while that I wasn't going to just someday try harder and get better at those things. And also, you know, it sucks knowing other people get to play some levels on Normal Difficulty while I'm trying to learn to trial and error time each jump and button press to get through the Mario level blindfolded.

I thought it'd be a little different since you had previously put in the effort to learn. Also what happens to you when you use very basic shapes and add details. If you can do still life, wouldn't very simple cartoony stuff be possible?

Assuming you know nothing of the Arabic alphabet or language. How long would you need to study it before you could draw it out accurately from memory? Do you think someone would be able to read what you wrote? Now compare it to someone who can look at it, read the actual words and know the alphabet and just needs to quickly memorize the text and reproduce it. Heck, they can probably even add their own handwriting 'style' to the text.

Now alternatively, if you could stare at the text while you're copying it, you can break it down and glance back and forth at each letter as you copy it and probably get a decent copy. That's still life for me. But I'm still not going to be able to read the text and understand it.

since I think that kind of ability's pretty rare.)

So through intense repetition and practice I can kind of draw a basic human-shape with kind of anime-esque influence. I use it when I'm designing cosplay outfits. I pulled up pictures of all the clothing elements I wanted and then made an effort to draw them on a human form. That's about a decade of art practice there, and that's as good as I get.

Being healthy. Beating my insomnia. Finding a job I enjoy. Living somewhere with clean air that doesn't fuck up my lungs.

Being happy.

Not being in pain 24/7, competing in horse shows and endurance riding/competitive trail riding, being able to work outside of the home full-time, and finding romantic love.

I don't know that I've really ever had any dreams? My only real "dream" was to live in nice place, have a reliable car and make enough money to pay the bills, ideally at a job I don't hate. And I have those things, so I don't think I really have any other dreams. I don't know, that might sound bad, but it's how I feel.

Sanity in politics.

Dating a woman/having a partner.

Being a puppeteer with my own troupe.

I have numerous health problems that make puppeteering pretty much impossible.

Finding an intelligent and handsome man to marry.
