What book did you read?

The grandmother physically and emotionally abuses them, they're kept locked in the attic, there is blood drinking because they're starved, and they're slowly poisoned, leaving one of the younger kids, Cory, dead. Chris Sr., the kids' father, was their mother's, Corrine's, half-uncle and that's in the book, pretty early in, too. Cathy and Chris, the older sister and brother, become physically attracted to each other. Chris later rapes Cathy after she kisses the man their mother married one night while he's sleeping, but Cathy forgives him because she wanted it too. Chris confesses his love for Cathy.

How explicit was the rape? It has been years since I read them but the most explicit sex scene I recall was in the first Dawn book (which may have been at the start of the ghost written era), and it was not all that detailed.

I think my point is on a whole the Virginia Andrews books were very light on detailed sex scenes, despite the other adult themes that came up in them. I have read far more explicit novels than VC Andrews along the way.

ayrt

Not very, but then the scene in It isn't actually all that explicit either. Fun fact: both books are right next to each other on one of my book shelves.
