I'm trying to read authors who have a full redemption arc for Controversial Bad Guy and "acknowledge his flaws," and honestly, it all seems like overkill to me. I don't think he's nearly as evil as they portray him, and I don't think he needs "redemption" so much as he needs a friend who can break through his self-loathing. Apparently, that means I'm "woobifying" him and being blind to his misdeeds because he's hot.

I keep meaning to get into the Persona series (any recommendations on where to start?), but I get where you're coming from on being accused of "woobifying" villains. My current fandom is pretty universally hated and any fanwork that's not bashing/dehumanizing him is seen as woobification.

If you still own a PSP, get the updated rerelease of Persona 3--it's got a lot of quality-of-life features that make it more user-friendly than the original release. Otherwise, your best bet is to start with 5, then work your way backward if you like it. The plots haven't really tied together since 2.

...I mean, he still murdered people knowingly in cold blood on his own path of revenge and became to another character what his target is to him.
