You write that like you've never heard of Supernatural's fandom.

(Anonymous) 2017-09-21 12:44 am (UTC)(link)You may have a point. (In a few years, it's going to be, "Back in my day, fandom was way more extreme. Why, I remember when people got married to characters on the astral plane! And kinkmemes were filled with RPF bestiality and extreme underage! Nowadays, they have no idea of what it means to take it too far. Get off my lawn!")

(Anonymous) 2017-09-21 12:32 am (UTC)(link)Maybe not, but here's a quick explanation and there's a link to more. https://fanlore.org/wiki/Michael_Rosenbaum

(Anonymous) 2017-09-21 12:54 am (UTC)(link)I have heard of Snapewives.
BUT I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF PEOPLE HOLDING UP A LITERAL PREDATORY SHIP AS SOME KIND OF GLBT ICON
Like, Pennywise/Babadook WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE

(Anonymous) 2017-09-21 01:14 am (UTC)(link)I don't know, but the 'Murder Husbands' tag on AO3 gets a fair amount of use. People who slay together stay together, I guess.
And some people are way more messed up than that - real-life serial killers get "fan" mail (or even get married, while in prison, to their "fans").

(Anonymous) 2017-09-21 01:44 am (UTC)(link)Also, the prison thing - I do believe it is partly due to how media presents cases. Remember Holmes? People concentrated on how innocent and hot he looked thanks to various commentary. There is definitely others who just randomly start fancying serial killers or for other reasons such as abusive backgrounds or total fascination.
I still want to use 'Murder Husbands'...

(Anonymous) 2017-09-21 02:03 am (UTC)(link)I do believe that media plays a part in the whole serial killer thing, but somebody married "The Night Stalker", both "Hillside Strangler"s, and the guy nicknamed "Bolin the Butcher" (his public defender, no less).
