I do the same, OP! It's so much fun. I usually come up with the most implausible crack pairings I can think of, including "pair the spares" characters and awful pairing names. AUs are fun too.

I also confess that when I'm in editing mode, I invent my own fandom wanks, complete with over-dramatic call outs about how this fic could lead to people's deaths, snarky tweets about how I should DIAF because of what happened to their favorite character, and tumblr anti shitposts. It makes me feel better about not being more popular. :D

That's a great strategy, OP! Getting into a completely different mindspace probably lets you look at the blocked work with fresh eyes, too.

I like your style OP. It seems like it'd be a good way of clearing out the cobwebs, so to speak.

That sounds like a great strategy, OP! I'm currently stuck in a writing slump and I'm gonna try your approach tonight. I feel like the older I get, the harder it is to turn off my inner editor and remember writing's supposed to be fun.

This is such a good idea!

That's a really clever idea :D! Glad you found a method that helps you with your writing and allows you a chance to let loose and have fun.

Oh man I used to do this with friends and I was afraid that if I confessed to it people would think I was pathetic or egotistical. Good to know that other people do it too.
