Not the worst exactly, but there were 2-3 years where my family kept getting me origami kits. I had never expressed an interest in origami before, during, or after.

Long ago in a fandom I'm not in anymore someone wrote me a gift fic, and it was pretty much the opposite of something I would want to read. It hit so many of my squicks. But they didn't know that, so of course I thanked them and praised it. I said "I liked the ending" while mentally thinking "because then I got to stop reading it."

A humongous box of Whoppers. Whoppers make me puke and the person who gave them to me knew that because they'd cleaned up the puke (I was five and they were babysitting me). I still don't know what they were thinking.

Me and my friends encountered this strange guy at the pub a few years back. He basically invited himself to our table, helped himself to my drink, made skeevy comments and fished cigarette butts out of the ashtrays to smoke. When he got booted out by the landlord, he grabbed my hand and put something in it saying "You're really special and I want you to have this. Please look after it, it means a lot to me."

I opened my hand as he walked away and it was a tealight. Like the regular silver ones you get in packs of fifty. I just stood there dumbfounded by the whole thing while my friends cracked up. Never saw him again and never got to ask about the story behind his special sacred tealight.

an initial necklace with the wrong letter. I had the bad luck to get the name of someone who hated me in a secret Santa and I think she did that on purpose.

A really ugly sweater that was a bad combination of all the traits horrible sweaters have. It was:

* poorly made with the kind of yarn that's bound to lose its shape overnight
* really scratchy
* metallic silver
* a rolled turtleneck
* six sizes too small

Bought for me by a relative who doesn't even usually get me Xmas gifts. I certainly don't expect any from them because I'm an adult? And they know full well how I dress (like a slob, in neutral colors) and what size I am (not a size 2) so why they'd buy me a silver metallic sweater that could fit a toy poodle, I have NO idea.

Jesus themed coloring book aimed at very small children when I was sixteen. It was from relatives who lived out of state, but they were well aware that I was sixteen and not six at the time. Those relatives are just weird.

You know how, when you're opening presents everyone sometimes makes jokes about the reused box the present was wrapped in. Like, "Oh look, a box of cereal, just what you wanted!" when it's obviously not actually cereal. Well, one Christmas I was opening presents and my mom said "Oh look, golf balls!" but then it turned out my grandma had actually given me golf balls. Even though I didn't own clubs and didn't golf and was eleven. We had a good laugh about it though, so that was nice.

Also, I have a friend who only ever gives me receipts for charity donations she's made in my name. I know a lot of people enjoy that kind of thing, but I very much don't. I give a monthly amount to charity, but when it comes to gifts, I just want something that's for me.

Wait wait wait, can you claim charity donations made in your name by other people for tax deductions? Because the receipts will make things very easy to itemize, and since I tend to hate most physical gifts other people get for me... I have to go find out about this immediately!

DA - I'm pretty sure the person who actually pays for the donation is the one who can claim it. This came up when a lot of people were putting donations to Planned Parenthood in Republican politicians names and some people were worried about them being able to claim it. I'm not fact-checking this though so I could be wrong.

A book for small-breasted women.

A t-shirt with Warner Brothers characters on it...when I was 24 years old...from my mother...who then complained over 10 years later: "Why are you wearing a shirt with cartoon characters on it, you're a grown woman!?" because she fucking forgot she bought me it for Christmas!

I can't think of any but my mom got a Justin Bieber notebook from a work Secret Santa and she took it as a personal insult (it kinda was).
