I hope you're right and that the zombie ACA repeal has had it's head cut off again--for good would be nice. Seriously kneeling is a super respectful form of protest it's not like they're burning flags plus they have a good point, ffs stop killing black people for no goddamn reason--racism isn't a good reason. And I thought the latest email stuff was Ivanka? Also can we just lock Kim Jong Un and Chump in a small room with, like, paper and straws and let them bombard each other with spitwads? "Petulant Dictators Destroy Planet With Nuclear Pissing Contest" is an awful headline. Well, at least Merkel is competent and will continue to work around Chump's bs.

The NFL thing is so out of left field, I don't even... Just...what? I know Trump wants desperately to try and distract everybody from his continued failures and the Russia investigation, but wow.

To say nothing of how fucked up it is that white supremacists and neo-Nazis can protest and they're "exercising their First Amendment rights" and are "fine people", but football players kneel to protest police brutality and somehow they're the disrespectful ones, and they're called "sons of bitches" by Trump. Talk about your complete and total bullshit.

I hope this latest attempt to repeal the ACA crashes and burns, too. The GOP really needs to let this pet project of theirs go already.

As for North Korea, all I can say on that is:

1. somebody desperately needs to muzzle Trump and keep him from ever speaking again about that subject.
2. here's hoping that the next time we hear about North Korea in the news, it's because Kim Jong-Un is no longer in power because of some non-war related reason, and the country finds itself in more stable hands somehow. This shit is giving me way too much anxiety.

The NFL thing is so deeply frustrating, in part because it's so stupid and at the same time such a direct line to what Trump stands for and embodies. The reasons that people get so angry about it are so stupid, and they're so entitled to their stupidity - they're furious at the idea that anyone should care about this. I mean, the fact that Trump didn't just talk about the flag, he was bullshitting about the referreeing in the NFL too - it's literally just things that make middle-aged divorced dads really angry - I mean how do you group those things together when they're so obviously different in importance and content? And the reason is because what people are angry at isn't just that the protests are "disrespectful", it's also that an issue as unimportant in their eyes as the systemic and deadly injustice of the American system of law & order, and the literal deaths at its hands, is intruding on their Sunday entertainment. It's sickening. And it's not just Trump, it's running through American sports and American culture generally - and in fact, it's really made it transparent to me how deeply embedded a particular and deeply racist mode of understanding American sports is for certain parts of the culture. and maybe I'm pessimistic but it seems to me it's likely to be a successful move for him. It's very depressing.

Angela Merkel is very likely to stay chancellor but she didnt "win", exactly. That's not how elections work in Germany.
