I'm sorry. Therapists who refuse to hear your story and feel its full weight are, if not seriously inexperienced, usually in some serious denial about their own upbringing. Emotional/psychological/verbal abuse is so easily swept under the rug because for some, it was "just a part of growing up" so it couldn't have been "that bad," and they project this attitude on anyone going through something similar. I wish we could cut that bullshit, words and deceit and conditional love hurt no matter who you are.

That honestly sounds better than my more cynical theory, that they wanted to say what the people paying them wanted to say and me moving out meant one less payment.

What's sad is I've come to expect those responses when I chance posting about my experiences.

I wish that we could cut it too. I hate seeing people suffering.

I sort of agree with your theory, except I know that there are some therapists who are completely nucking futz, too.
