Mushrooms!

Do you like mushrooms (the eating kind, not the trippin kind lol)? What are your favorite mushroom dishes?

Re: Mushrooms!

Love em, me. Love some good mushrooms. Mostly the best use of em as far as I'm concerned is frying em and using them with things that way, with sauces or whatever other things.

I loved them as a child, then in my teens and 20s I had a taste/texture issue with them and didn't eat them. But now I love all kinds of mushrooms. My favorites are mushrooms stewed in a sauce of wine, garlic, and a little chicken broth, and I love a mushroom ragout over rice or noodles. And crispy fried mushrooms with a spicy aoli are a great snack/appetizer.

I like creamy mushroom soup - homemade, not the kind from a can, I mean. Sauteed garlic mushrooms. Chanterelles. I've never had morels but I'd love to try them. Most wild mushrooms are expensive and I'm too chicken to forage on my own.

I only liked it once. A friend of my dad's made a portobello mushroom that smelt, looked, and tasted like steak.

Gimme a shroom, I'll have it in any dish.

I make a great mushroom gravy for Thanksgiving. I like to use a 50/50 mix of white button and baby portobello mushrooms and either a merlot or pinot noir wine. I make about a gallon of it so I can eat it with dressing all week, lol!

they're one of my favorite vegetables. I love them in anything except cream of mushroom soup.

The only mushroom I've found I didn't like is lion's mane. I just... don't like it.

My favorite is sautéed morels. Luckily for me, I live in morel country, so even though they're still expensive (I'm too lazy/chickenshit to go mushroom hunting) they're affordable. As in $20 a pound instead of $50.

My second favorite is a good, thick cream of mushroom soup made with pretty much every mushroom I can get my hands on. Butter, leeks, onions, at least two pounds of mushrooms, salt, pepper, tarragon, and far too much whole milk and cream. It's a heart attack of the best kind.

Third favorite is fried mushrooms, but they have to be piping hot. With buttermilk ranch.

lone voice here -- I like raw mushrooms in a salad, but have disliked every cooked mushroom I've ever tried due to the texture (haven't tried portobello though)

I'm the same, raw mushrooms = great, but I really can't do cooked mushrooms. For me, it's the smell as much as the texture and taste; makes me gag just smelling it. But I love 'em raw, they have a completely different taste and texture, no weird smell, either. They're hearty and healthy and I enjoy pretty much any kind, raw.

No. I can't stand the texture and taste of mushrooms. D:

I love plain white/brown mushrooms sauteed with garlic, and they fulfill a similar taste requirement for me as meat. So often in pasta dishes if I have sauteed mushrooms I'll just have those instead of meat.

I also love enoki mushrooms in east Asian dishes, especially in hot pots.

I LOVE ALL MUSHROOMS 🍄 (<--well, not fly amanitas, they're poisonous)

I love using beech mushrooms in soups as a low-carb alternative to noodles.

In moderation and combined with other flavors, yeah.

I wouldn't want a mouthful of nothing but mushrooms.

I love mushrooms. I love them on pizza, and I loved them sauteed. I actually ordered an appetizer of mushrooms sauteed in butter and cognac at a Persian restaurant a couple of weeks ago. They were so delicious, and so rich I almost couldn't finish them.

Nope. I hate mushrooms. There are few foods I dislike at this point, but mushrooms is at the top of the list.

I don't like them at all, the taste and texture is just a no-go for me.

Just lightly sauteed with some choice seasoning is great. I also love Asian mushroom varieties in hotpot, especially with a kimchi base. YUM.

In my opinion, fresh mushroom can class up any dish. Once I cooked them with instant ramen. AMAZING.

I am not a huge fan of mushrooms on their own, but if they are in a sauce they're good. I like canned mushrooms in butter sauce, mushroom and sour cream sauce and stroganoff.
