Click and Bridge to Terabithia, off the top of my head.

I was a little surprised that so many people were shocked by the Bridge to Terabithia movie. I thought it was one of those books that EVERYONE had to read in elementary school. That, and like, Where the Red Fern Grows (also sad!), etc. I thought it was such a famous kids' book that no one would really be going in not knowing what happens, but I guess that's not the case.

Pan's Labyrinth. I knew it was going to be sad in general, but Jesus.

I JUST finished watching it for the first time. I wasn't expecting it to be so....war-oriented and gory.

I went in expecting it to be a whimsical fairytale escapist fantasy from an unfortunate girl. But the fantasy was just as disturbing as the real life stuff.

The Fall. Cried like a baby during the last part.

Fuck man same. Like, I didn't think it was going to be happy, but it shocked me how much it made me cry

Moulin Rouge. It looked almost garish and there was singing, I didn't expect to be so upset at the end. That's partly due to baggage on my part, but even so...

I forget the title - maybe The Christmas Story? It was written by Truman Capote. I thought it was going to be a nice story about a little boy and his elderly friend. Then he's taken away from her, and in the epilogue we find out the next time he saw her, she was in the early stages of dementia.

I mean, what the ever living fuck, movie?!

(Also, what's with morbid and depressing Christmas movies?)

Google says that's A Christmas Memory.

(A Christmas Story is that movie where the kid wants an air rifle but he is warned he will "shoot his eye out" and there is a lamp that looks like a woman's leg.)

Tinkerbell and the Neverbeast
The other movies are upbeat and have happy endings, and this was the last one to be made. It was so sad at the end.

I knew that I was probably going to cry during Les Miserables, but I had not expected to cry just that much. I was in tears half of the movie.

Contact (Jody Foster scifi movie from the 90s). I just weep and weep over that movie, even to this day.

YMMV, I guess. I really dislike that movie and not because I thought it was sad.

The Fox and the Hound, it's not so much 'cry my eyes out' unhappy but more depressing as hell. Even seeing gifsets of it makes me sad.

Moana. I didn't think it was gonna make me cry as much as it did.

Same! I can't remember the last time a movie made me cry this much.

Finding Neverland. I don't even know if it was accurate and I wouldn't even say it's the best movie I ever saw but I think it was the only time I cried in a theater.

Literally the only thing I remember about this movie was that it left me depressed for days afterward. I kind of want to see it again to remember why...

I don't think I expected to cry in Toy Story 3, lol. (not a sad movie overall though.)
