I JUST finished watching it for the first time. I wasn't expecting it to be so....war-oriented and gory.

Yeah, it was really jarring. I was expecting primarily dark fantasy, and while there was certainly plenty of that... geez. That ending though.

I went in expecting it to be a whimsical fairytale escapist fantasy from an unfortunate girl. But the fantasy was just as disturbing as the real life stuff.
