Star Trek Thread
Who's your favorite captain? Favorite characters/series/pairings/storylines? What Star Trek was your first Star Trek? What do you love best about Star Trek? What's the thing you would change?

Well, now you have to give a real answer because we know you have one.

Yes, Star Trak is boring and only for lame nerds. Star Trek, on the other hand, is not.

Sisko is the best captain, period, final answer. Favorite series are TOS, TNG, and DS9 - no disrespect to Voyager or Enterprise fans, but I just think the writing quality of both has too many issues for me. The first Star Trek I was into was definitely TNG - also, when I was a kid, I probably read more Trek novels than I watched actual episodes (my parents were very restrictive with screens and the library had a ton of scifi) so that was very influential on my early experience with the shows. Favorite characters overall, probably Bones, O'Brien, Riker, Crusher, Sisko. Also Ro Laren.

Picard is my fave Captain. Spock, Scotty, and most of the Next Gen characters are my faves. original Trek was my first Trek and if I could change anything I would get rid of DS9, Voyager and some of the movies.

Picard is my favorite captain, and I grew up on TNG, which I love, but I actually think my favorite series is Enterprise.

I love the camaraderie with the crews more than anything, I think, but Enterprise is so much more exciting to me.

Captain Kirk is my favourite. Yes, TOS storylines have aged - not surprisingly, considering how long ago it aired - but the chemistry between Kirk-Spock-McCoy is what made the show work so well.

I should clarify that TOS!Kirk is my favourite. While I do enjoy the movies, I feel that the movie Kirk is not the real Kirk - he's kind of a magnified caricature of TOS!Kirk.

THIS. I adored the interaction between Kirk and Spock, and had a *major* crush on Scotty. But rewatching TOS, McCoy really comes off as abusive and xenophobic. He's not a nice person to Spock *at all*.

I liked Janeway, but I've pretty much only seen most of Voyager and TNG and parts of the original, though.

Chakotay and Worf are maybe my favorite characters? I also like Spock a lot. idk it would be hard to pick.

I love the weird mind-bend sci fi stuff, except for all the awful Q stuff. All of the holodeck eps and stuff, you know?

If I was going to change one thing it would be to add way more of Badass Janeway Blowing Shit Up. There was a couple eps where the show basically turned into Aliens and that was great.

Favorite characters: McCoy, Spock, Data, Sisko, Bashir, Bareil, Chakotay, Malcolm
Pairings: McCoy/Spock, Sisko/Bashir, Chakotay/Tom, Malcolm/Trip/Archer

I don't have a favorite captain since I think they all fit where they were.

I liked holodeck episodes growing up. I'd probably like more political negotiation episodes now.

Picard, Kirk, more into Kira than Sisko.

Janeway is my favorite captain. DS9 is my favorite show. Favorite characters are Kira, Jadzia, McCoy, Sulu, Janeway, B'Lanna, Garak, and Odo. Favorite pairing is Jadzia/Worf.

My favourite captain is Picard, which is hardly an unusual opinion but I think at least part of it is because TNG was the first Trek show I watched and I kind of love them both as a result. I really liked DS9 though and I think it had some of the best writing out of all the shows(though I generally think that they all had their high and low points, even Enterprise which gets a lot of shit).

The main think I loved about it was the characters, getting to see the stories of all the crewmembers, seeing all the different alien races(I'm always a sucker for that), and in general I just liked the idea that humanity could reach a point where we stopped fighting and worked together.

My biggest ship was Worf/Dax and I still am so sad about how they ended up, but otherwise I've got a lot of little ships scatteered about. Troy/Riker, Data/Tasha, T'Pol/Archer, Paris/Torres, like for the most part I was good with the canon, not sure if I'd feel differently watching it now though.

Since I feel like I kind of have to do this...

Favorite captain: I'm not sure. It's been awhile since I've seen all the shows so I can't give an accurate statement.

Favorite series: Deep Space Nine (as if that wasn't obvious).

Favorite characters: I always loved Bashir and Garak, but my rewatch made me appreciate a lot of the characters even more, particularly Kira and Odo. I also used to have a crush on Data when I watched TNG as a teenager.

Things I'd change: Less faffing around in DS9's Season Seven, and a more consistent Section 31. I maintain they could have been a great concept if they'd been a little better handled.

Picard is the most cinnamon roll
Archer is the cutest
Kirk has the best crew
If you consider Andromeda to be a part of ST, Dylan's not half bad either.
