My favourite captain is Picard, which is hardly an unusual opinion but I think at least part of it is because TNG was the first Trek show I watched and I kind of love them both as a result. I really liked DS9 though and I think it had some of the best writing out of all the shows(though I generally think that they all had their high and low points, even Enterprise which gets a lot of shit).

The main think I loved about it was the characters, getting to see the stories of all the crewmembers, seeing all the different alien races(I'm always a sucker for that), and in general I just liked the idea that humanity could reach a point where we stopped fighting and worked together.

My biggest ship was Worf/Dax and I still am so sad about how they ended up, but otherwise I've got a lot of little ships scatteered about. Troy/Riker, Data/Tasha, T'Pol/Archer, Paris/Torres, like for the most part I was good with the canon, not sure if I'd feel differently watching it now though.
