The Star Trek spirit is alive and well and living on Discovery. The Orville is an awkward and dull mash of extremely cliche stories with flat jokes. I've seen better Star Trek parodies by amateurs at cons, and I'm not saying those were good.

Discovery is boring and depressing, something no Star Trek should ever be. Also, I've had enough of prequels and alt.timelines, when the hell will we start going fwds again?

It's not my favorite, but I still enjoyed it for the most part.

But it's definitely not a fluffy bunnies show, so how are you going to say that Discovery is anti-Trek because it's depressing?

I didn't say it wasn't Star Trek. Ds9, while depressing at times, still had its moments and storylines that I loved. Discovery is nothing but a dull drama and pretty effects, the whole atmosphere is too dark and the sense of wonder is just gone. I try to enjoy it because I waited for the new Trek series for so long, but I just can't.

That's fair if you just don't like the show. It's the idea that it's lost the Star Trek spirit, and that Orville has the Star Trek spirit, that seems dumb to me.
