Well, look on the bright side, at least you're not a hipster anymore.

On two different ends of the spectrum, Disco and Classic Country (back before Nashville became a bayesian marketing bot tuned to maximize the sales of Chevy trucks to suburban white collar guys.)

I was never an emo kid or a goth, but I've been a fan since Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge came out. The music is fun, the concerts were fun, and I had blast going with friends. It's kind of funny how people go out of their way to let you know that the band you like is super uncool, though. Like... okay, thanks?

Anyway, thanks for saying this. Which ones did you like?

MCR was so fun live! I support all the guys and their current projects, but I still kinda wish they hadn't broken up. I like them and a whole host of emo bands and people in high school were always telling me I had shit taste in music. Didn't care though. Life's too short to pretend to be cool. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agreed. If I had to pretend to be cool and only liked what other people deemed good enough, there are a lot of things I'd have missed out on at various points in my life!

Sentai shows. There still are some that I find too cringey and I don't deal well with cringey, but a few of them I genuinely enjoy. (Especially Gokaiger and on the more mature-oriented end, Garo.)

I was never sophisticated. I liked what I liked and didn't care what people thought. I loved the hell out of MCR (still do in fact!). I got teased for being emo and shit, but their music made me so happy. I dunno what happened, but now my friends act like they were always into them and love singing the songs with me. Shame they didn't come around before they broke up. They were hella fun live.

I love MCR so much and don't what anyone thinks. Though there is a hipster part of me that thinks they're a cut above other early 2000s emo/scene bands.

I was ninteen when someone first recced me Twilight, and when I read the back cover in a book store I was suuuuper derisive of it. But I ended up reading the first two books (and movies) in my mid-twenties and enjoying the hell out of them as guilty pleasures.

The same thing also happened, a bit, with teen shows like Gossip Girl and Dawson's Creek. At ninteen or twenty I was just like, "Lol, such trash." But sometime in my mid twenties I got minorly into both as guilty pleasures.

The thing is, I don't think I was pretending to have zero interest in that stuff when I was in my late teens. I think I just hadn't learned to expand my taste in fiction to include cheesy OTT interpersonal drama at that point.
