I would argue that Majima has some kind of gender ambiguity going on. Genderfluid, maybe?

NA

I think it's really a stretch to say that Majima's whole deal is remotely close enough to "trans or genderqueer woman" or genderfluid to count as an example. I mean, you could have chosen a picture of the Pleasure "King" from Yakuza 0, someone who's actually an example of what you're talking about. But Majima is very intentionally putting on a Creepy Crazy Wacky Threatening persona, and all his disguises and shit are part of that. Listing him as an example of this is about as sensible as using a screenshot of Officer Majima when talking about cops in the series - there are characters who this completely unambiguously applies to, so you're weakening your argument (which I absolutely agree with, no bones about it) by using a picture of him instead.

I disagree. Anon above summed it up quite well, but additionally, all of Majima's costumes are just there because he enjoys going all-out with his wacky plans to goad Kiryu into a fight. It has nothing to do with his gender identity.

I guess we have a different interpretation of the character. I read Majima as someone who treats sex and violence as very similar, and thinks of both in a heteronormative fashion where a "man" dominates a "woman," but is ambivalent over whether he or Kiryu is the "woman." He wants to fuck or be fucked by Kiryu, only for him fucking Kiryu means stabbing him with that freaky glowing purple knife. He probably wouldn't play the woman role for anyone other than Kiryu, but that's because not many people other than Kiryu can beat him in a fight and thus "make him a woman."

Maybe we can compromise and say that Majima's gender is homicidally insane.

You can certainly feel free to have that headcanon.
I'm not going into spoiler territory though if you haven't played any of the other games, other than saying most of Majima's personality is a huge act.
