Not to get too close-reading about it, but they said in the middle there that probably these people mean well.

What OP said is that those people mean well in putting POC actors on a pedestal. That's different from the point that I'm making, which is that people in fandom use hyperbole for many reasons, of which putting people on a pedestal is one.

I'm not going to tell OP what to say, and even less am I going to tell them what to feel, or say that their discomfort is invalid. But to me, personally, their complaint makes more sense if it's directed at people who are putting POC on a pedestal, instead of being directed at people who use hypberole in fandom spaces. And that's how the secret read to me, so I commented to say so.
