I'm sorry, OP. That sucks. :( FWIW, I think it's a normal response to not be into something that you shared so deeply with an ex, especially if you're still grieving and your heart's still broken. Don't beat yourself up because it's been a year, either. There isn't some set time limit where you're supposed to feel better. I hope you can find something else to watch/squee over and can let GOT go if you need to. It'll always be there later if you want to go back, ya know?

I think it's very difficult to distinguish between people who are being overenthusiastic because of a desire to appear progressive, and people who are being overenthusiastic because this is Internet fandom and being overenthusiastic is part of the general mode of expression in that space.

Right? Like, people use a lot of hyperbole to express things in general. I'm sure that what you're saying does happen, to an extent, but it's tricky.

I've always taken the "Friendly reminder that character X is y" stuff as just a habitual mode of expression in fandom. I really don't interpret it as a general statement about canon, and I think it's incorrect to assume that someone who is talking like that is necessarily saying that it's definitely canon.
