Find pictures where they're all dressed/styled the same and make a Tumblr post joking about how they're impossible to tell apart. You'd probably get lots of notes.

What odd people to compare.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
5, meet 2.

Yeah, a lot of white celebs are very basic and interchangeable.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-17 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Could be worse, could be female Asian stars (especially pop ones).

I was thinking about this recently, and how hard it would be to adapt one of my recent favorite book series to live-action - in books, it's okay to have four characters who are all highly attractive blonde women who dress the same, since they have different names. On-screen, you'd constantly be mixing them up.

I have the same issue with white guys. A lot of famous white guys that people fawn over as being hot, I have a hard time telling them apart. Like I can see how people can find them atheistically pleasing, but they all read generic white boy to me.

I'm white and faceblind. I have had white coworkers that it took me months to tell apart, despite their having different hairstyles and hair colors. I get greeted by patrons from work outside of work and I'm like "the fuck are you?" I think I'm worse at telling black people and other POC apart than white people, but honestly that's not saying much. And I can't tell these three apart. The one with the red background looks like she's got a wider face, but then, the other two are in 3/4 and profile and she's face-on. And in the duo pic the one girl's taller than the other. I guess it doesn't help that I've got no clue who any of them are.

The one in turquoise is Taylor Swift, the one on the red background is Milla Jovovich. I don't know the one in the picture with Swift though.

But while I can tell them apart, I kinda see why people might have problems with them, they do look quite similar.

See, I like Milla, BECAUSE she's not really what I would call attractive? She's scrawny, she's got rather average features, but goddamn do I love watching her kick ass in Fifth Element, or the RE films, or even serious things like Faces in the Crowd. I just find her captivating when in motion.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-18 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
I think the most interesting thing about Milla's face is that her bone structure is all fairly soft, but her features are all "hard." Those elements are hard to resolve, which helps to make her fascinating to watch. It also helps that she's a model, so she knows how to move in front of a camera.

If it helps, I'm white and I'm not pretty.

I'm just concerned about how that green dress is staying up. Is it tape? It's gotta be tape, right...?

(Anonymous) 2017-10-17 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the top half is mesh? Unless she has the world's most bizarre tanline.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-17 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. It's actually got a higher neckline, but it's nude material so it's not obvious.

I figured you were a jealous black woman before you said it.

Yawn

The one on the right definitely has a different jawline from the one in the middle.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-18 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even know who that first woman is

(Anonymous) 2017-10-18 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Karlie's face is quite a bit longer than Taylor's, her eyes are much more hooded, her lips are thinner, and her jaw is longer and more pronounced. She's also like 6'2" and 120 lbs, that ain't exactly "generic."

As for Milla, she and Taylor do look kind of similar in the photos you've chosen, but in basically every other photo I'm seeing they don't look similar at all. There's something very hard and predatory about Milla's face. She looks like a bird of prey. Whereas Taylor's face is much softer and more "sweet" looking. If there's another woman Milla actually looks like, it's supermodel Linda Evangelista.

Nobody is obligated to find anybody attractive, and I'm not arguing that you should find Karlie, Taylor, and Milla attractive. But other than being tall, blonde, very thin, and white, these women don't look overly alike.

The one facial feature they all have in common, I suppose, is that they all have hooded eyes (to varying degrees). And because they all have hooded eyes, they also all have similarly arched brows, to compliment their eye shape. But the thing is, hooded eyes aren't standard. The very feature they all share in common is, itself, a distinctive feature.

I do see an element of sameness in those women, and I really do struggle to see what makes Taylor Swift the flavour of the month...

But with Mila, I can tell you exactly why I find her beautiful. She's Leeloo. That association between her and the awesome sexy character has persisted all the way through some dreadful lows for the Resident Evil Movies (I liked the movies, but they didn't do Mila any favours.)

They look like mannequin spy-bots from the original Westworld.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-18 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah they're all sort of bland "Lights are out and no one's home" to me.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-18 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I like and know (that is, recognise) Taylor. But I can’t for the life of me ever recognise Karlie. Her face just won’t register in my brain, no matter how many times I see her.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-18 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a white woman who's tired of it, too. I don't personally find this "look" (skinny and blond and white with high cheekbones or whatever) particularly attractive. In fact, I sometimes find myself actively disliking actresses who meet this "flawless" genetic makeup, and not wanting to give them a chance on their own skill. Because I know why they're in that job. Sometimes they actually can act. And sometimes it's abysmally obvious otherwise. They were cast because of "look," like a mannequin.
