Favorite Halloween Songs/music

[personal profile] philstar22 2017-10-18 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
So I do this thing called Toastmasters which is basically learning how to speak better in public. Anyway, I'm leading the October 31 meeting, and I'm going to go all out Halloween.

What are the absolute must-have Halloween songs? They can be scary because no kids, but preferably clean language.

Still need to figure out where the best place is to get cheep decorations. But I at least want to have the music down so I can put together a playlist.

I have a huge playlist of horror music on Spotify. if I had to pick a specific thing, I'd say either the It Follows or The Fog OSTs.

I think most, if not all, of the songs on the Dead Man's Party album would work.

We had a few different Halloween mixtapes when I was a kid and they all had pretty much the same songs in a different order. The ones I remember:

Ghost Busters Theme
Monster Mash
Love Potion #9
Werewolves of London

Ones people have already mentioned:

Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult
Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo
Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon

Ones that haven't been mentioned yet:

Fresh Blood by The Eels
Red Right Hand by Nick Cage and the Bad Seeds
Ipswitch by Georgia Kay
Grave Digger by Dave Matthews Band

For fun, sexy pop: She Wolf by Shakira

For a sweet little love song that's also kind of Halloweeny: Long Shadows by Josh Ritter

Oh, Toastmasters! I'm trying to gain the courage to join a local bilingual Toastmasters group. Basically you give a speech in the language you are learning, English or the other one. I'm not good at the other language and I'm not good at giving speeches even in English, but the crowd seems so fun and supportive, and I hear it really does help with confidence building.

Oooo, that's actually a great idea. I'm not quite yet at that point with my Spanish, but when I get there I should totally see if there is a bilingual group around here.
