Re: Ship Dynamics There's Not Enough Of

Characters who knew each other but whether or not there were feelings did not actually date each other at school, or in some other long term situation where they saw each other regularly as teens, and haven't seen each other since, and have to navigate the difference between their mental image/memories of how each other used to be and how they both are now. Bonus points if one or both is still similar enough in some ways to be jarring now and then to each other. NOT "owo kawaii first love opens a noodle shop next door" type stories, stories where both characters have seen some shit and done a lot of growing and maturing and the psychology of the situation is at least somewhat explored.

School includes college. There are probably more of these for people who knew each other as full on adults and lost touch, but a big part of the interest for me is in the personalities still forming when they lost touch and them dealing with what they turned into as Real Bona Fide Grownups.

are you me anon?
I really want something like this for my OTP, I've even been wishing I could write it myself (which I never do and is very unlikely to actually happen)

I just love the idea of them meeting when they're both going in different directions, and then finding an unlikely compatibility as adults. I love it a lot.
