Not OP

I'm slowly realizing that I like romance novels. All you really need is to encounter the right ones and BAM it's too late, you're on the Romance Express!

I'm tempted to buy two currently. The one I've been reading lately, while having some issues, surprisingly doesn't read like a romance novel (or at least a typical one/ the kind I expected).

Do you have any recs? Or your favorites?

I personally stick to Regencies, usually the "genre Regency" type which tends to be without sex scenes. (Nothing against sex scenes per se.) Georgette Heyer was the acknowledged master of those and her books really are good. But I recently discovered an author called Candace Hern and really enjoyed her books. And Jo Beverly is really good - she writes genre Regencies and longer romances with sex and so forth. "Emily and the Dark Angel" is a lot of fun.

When I was a clueless virgin, I was all about the bodice-rippers. But since I've actually HAD sex, I find I'm a lot more interested in Regencies.

I still like sex in fanfic though. Maybe because I'm already attached to the couple involved and want to see it.
