Underrated Fics

In the spirit of the above poster, which fics would you say have not garnered the attention they should have? Strong points -- characterization, writing, plot, etc.?

To me, these are the two greatest Arthur/Eames fic. They're not on AO3 though so they don't get much attention.

Strong points: good characterisation imo, good use of the universe, good writing, well thought out and interesting plots. Oh and hot, naturally.

Double Agent Vader - http://archiveofourown.org/series/286908 - I wouldn't quite call it 'underrated', but it could use some more love. A collection of oneshots, set in an AU where Vader decides that Palpatine is a dick and needs to be brought down. Has some great worldbuilding, and I've seen quite a few other Star Wars stories borrowing from it.

I'm a diehard shipper who doesn't read a whole lot of genfic, but what you say is true. It's not even that genfic has to be excellent to get read; genfic can be excellent and still not get read.

There is some gen fic that are better than any shipping fic I've read that are nearly ignored.

...I mean, not all of it. But when I read gen, I'm frequently surprised by the quality compared to ship-centred fic. And by how it'll have maybe two or three comments, tops.

Absolutely destroyed me, and normally I'm not even a bit interested in Widowmaker. The worldbuilding is ingenuous and the plot twists are amazing and it's all just so well written. Honestly I feel like it should be one of the fandom's most celebrated works.
