After 5/12 years of college where I analyzed and wrote the fuck out of everything, no, it's not worth critical thought. It's my ESCAPE from that shit. I honestly believe that people who analyze anime like it's fucking great literature are just trying to flex their intellectual muscles and show off how educated they are, because they have no release for this IRL.

I used fandom as my escape when I was crashing and burning in grad school, so I do get what you're saying. But the way I read the OP's gripe was that people say fandom isn't worth the effort and shouldn't be subjected to it, that her (I'm guessing gender from the image) time is being wasted by applying critical thought and activism to fandom. And I disagree with that.

I don't, by any means, think that criticism should be advocated as the only way to approach fandom, but neither do I think that it should be dismissed as pointless. There should be room for the people who just want to enjoy and for the people who want to meta and analyze.

Ah, but you use critical thinking in determining potential with ships, don't you? :) I know I do! However, there is critical thinking and then there is over-thinking, and... fandom's not quite the place for the latter.

...but I put critical thought into a lot of things. XD I'm highly analytical by nature, woe.
