125. Lucid dreams are amazing. The sleep paralysis that often follows, however, isn't. :(

::EDIT:: On the subject of "learning" to have lucid dream, the only way I've ever managed to do it is by a) realising that I'm dreaming (which is obviously really quite tricky to do) and then b) concentrating very, very hard. Especially if I want to change the environment or control the people/objects around me. It's frustrating because there's a fine line between changing what's happening in your dream, and forcing yourself awake by accident, and then that's what seems to result in sleep paralysis. For me, anyway. I'm guessing it differs from person to person.

137. According to the Wiki (reliable source, I know) that scene was added at the end because test audiences didn't like the abrupt finish. The director didn't want it. So maybe that's why it kind of sucks.

I haven't found achieving/controlling a lucid dream to be difficult (not saying I'm a special snowflake or anything). I think a lot of it is the mindset you have about it - your expectations about how difficult it's supposed to be. When I was able to convince myself that it's easy, that everything I dreamt was in my mind, lucid dreams came daily and were more or less fully controlled.

You might be interested in a technique called WILD (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=40684) (Wake-Initiated Lucid Dream), which involves, as you might have guessed, going directly from being awake into a lucid dream. I do this every now and then, so I can attest to its legitimacy. That whole forum is great, actually.
