I was raped when I was a kid too.

I write (and read) rapefics for my own reasons. I don't dwell on the act itself, but instead the character's struggle to put their life back together. Reading or writing out how they dealt with it kind of helped me deal with it too.

I'm sorry that happened to you.

#143: I guess I'm the minority who doesn't see what the big deal is with anything he said. People are allowed their opinions, and all, and he admitted he was a 'bit of a lad' back then. Sally Sparrow is the highest rated 'side character' in Doctor Who, most requested for a companion, and considered one of the greatest females in the show, and she was written by this apparently sexist oaf. I wish somebody would really break down WHAT'S so offensive about it. There are people who say some really shit things and I just honestly don't see that as one of them.

#144: I genuinely don't understand why anybody who actually likes the character of Sam Tyler would WANT him to stay in 'his world'. I really, really don't understand it. It's not about promoting suicide. It's about doing what's right for him, the character, at that time.

I love you. Seriously. Both of those opinions.

Especially 144. I'm actually a little horrified (or at least, mildly upset) that so many people were upset that Sam jumped. I couldn't've imagined a more triumphant ending. It seems unfair to want him to stay in the "real-but-not-real" world where he wasn't really alive and didn't really have any friends instead of going back to the "not-real-but-more-real" world where he was alive.

Maybe it's existential or something, but it's like...as long as he was alive...he wasn't, y'know? (should not type these things so late at night.)

Either way, I was positively joyful at the end. He went home. Any other ending would've been a downer.

101 - I hate when people blame fandom for their own, or other's, shortcomings.

123 - I know, the young ones make me feel old some days, but every time I come across a secret telling me I'm too old for fandom (not this one), it makes me want to participate more in fandom.

124 - Oh good deity! People wish rape on characters they hate?!??! That's not funny at all, not even as a joke. I don't mind the kink, however -- but that? No.

140 - Those movies sucked hard for me, a fan of the comics. I can see how non-comic book fans liked it, however.

114 YEAH. I'm not Christian but I like the idea of making a fantasy novel with all the subtext. And C.S. Lewis was pretty much the first person in literature to see the parallels between Christian mythos and fantasy (like how Tolkein did with early Germanic mythos in LOTR). Mostly I just hate people who bash on people's beliefs and who, for some reason, think the whole point behind Narnia was to proselytize.

121 I feel out of the anime loop in college (which was about 5 1/2 years -- I was still watching it sometimes, but I didn't get into new shows and I didn't have time to watch my old ones either). When I started to get back into it after graduation I could feel myself slowly becoming more introverted and socially inept. :(

It's funny you say that-- I had such bad experiences with real men that I did the exact opposite. I turned my back on them and moved to fictional or celebrity men who were safe because I couldn't have them. I was pretty happy with that.

Maybe what has happened to me since then will work for you; I don't know, but it's worth a try.

I made a mistake; I picked a beautiful celebrity guy to fall for who was only a very minor celebrity and who turned out to be accessible. He handles all his own PR; you can go right up to him at cons, he will even go out to dinner or party with you if you play your cards right, and with the help of friends, I managed to do that. I've even spent significant chunks of time away from con with him a few times; he's actually been to my house and I can contact him by phone or online if I want. It's become a real relationship of sorts.

He still isn't someone I can have a romance with, but that's because of me being the size of Jabba the Hutt, not him being unreal. I know he's looking for a relationship, and he might be willing to consider giving us a try if I weren't so big. You might have a better chance than me with a guy like that.

But hey, even if I can't have him, he's a real guy, and I can reach out and hug him sometimes, or talk to him, so it's not all bad.
