124 – Others have said it better, so I won't go into too much detail.

Rapefic writers write for any number of reasons – which often include getting over the trauma of their own rape – and are no more likely to be rapists than murder mystery novelists are likely to be murderers.

146 – I listen to "The Sharpest Lives" whenever I feel down. MCR make me happy – I don't care what that says about me!

I really dislike that analogy for the simple fact that the intention behind the acts in question. In a murder mystery/crime novel, the murder is not positively reinforced-- it's a crime and the person who perpetrated it must be brought to justice. In a lot of rape/"non-con" fics, the act is gratifying for the reader-- it's intended as a means of mental or even physical sexual gratification and arousal, and therefore justified or made acceptable. Obviously this doesn't include fics that deal with more realistic emotional and physical ramifications and don't glorify the act, but a lot of it does.

Also, I think the point the OP was trying to make was the term "non-con" is a copout term to skirt around the word "rape" and all the emotional baggage the term carries with it. I believe she wanted people to call an apple an apple.

If you wrote a rape fic for the intention of having people get off on it, then yeah, you're basically justifying it. If you wrote it for another purpose, then that's another thing, as I pointed out.
