101. You can leave if you hate it so much, and I really hope you weren't serious about how it's killing your sister. Fandom should never become important enough to destroy someone; it's not World of Warcraft. Hopefully she can break out of it.

108. Fandom is not totally comprised of slash. It's a big part of it because most of us are genuinely into slash, and fandom is a place where that is accepted and even encouraged. But I think the majority of shippers in fandom are at least neutral towards het, probably having a few het pairings of their own. Sucks that you have to deal with the more diehard slash fans; they sound like they're ruining your party.

123: What if you have "senority," but nobody really cares what you have to say? (That's where I am). I have no age-given authority, I'm just here, and sometimes mocked, often ignored. Fandom cares not for age. I've known people who were older than I am (I'm on the threshold of 29) who were MUCH more wanky and immature than I am. On the Internet, everyone is 12.

124: Sounds like the OP is talking about the former. I've actually written the latter, myself, once, as I said in my main body reply. They're two different things.

Er, I read that wrong! Ack! What I mean is, I think the OP has come across more of the fantasy stuff... what I've written was the horror-type rape scene for drama stuff - anything *but* fun/romantic/kinky/hatefic stuff - like, an actual exploration of the theme.

And even that one fic was a long time ago.
