I don't really think that whining about sexism in popular culture is taking any kind of "stand" against anything, because you aren't changing other people's attitudes and ideas towards issues of sex and gender, or the patriarchal society we live in).

I can dissect media depictions and and that doesn't preclude me doing other things. And I agree with icefalcon, that those of us who care enough to do the analysis are also people who care enough to do more "concrete" things as well.
