What weird or creepy things do you like learning about?

A lot of them. I like folklore and how certain myths and superstitions may have developed in societies and how people dealt with those things. I also think stories about medical procedures etc, that seem creepy/brutal from today's POV are very interesting. Which is why I enjoy the Lore podcast so much (even though I'm not the greatest fan of the narrator)!

True crime! Especially serial killers and cults.

Just the cults for me. :)

I do like reading about weird conspiracy stuff, and things like pseudoarchaeology and pseudohistory and stuff like that. the weirder and more Gnostic and involved the better.

Unfortunately, after a certain point, most of those things just look like variations on a few basic and reasonably predictable themes.

I really enjoy true crime and watching shows about serial killers, I just find the concept of it fascinating(if morally reprehensible).

It really is fascinating to see what humans are capable of and what drives them to those limits.

Oh yeah, and the fact that there is usually a pattern to how they're 'made'(so to speak) as well. It's awful but so damn interesting to read or watch about.

I like out of place artifacts and weird disappearance stories but kind of feel like at this point I've read all the big ones and all the new ones I can find are either really really scarce on detail or obviously fake/easy to explain.

Learning about CO poisoning really ruined ghost stories for me :(

Unexplained crimes like this one:

That's not much of a mystery, though. She was bipolar and suffered from depression. It's likely she had a psychotic break and drowned accidentally. It's a tragedy, but lack of 100% certainty doesn't make it a mystery.

Absolutely.

Except for the fact that there was no physical way she could have placed herself in that water tank. You know, apart from that.

Unsolved mysteries (the show too!)

Mysteries that occurred within the last 60 years also interest me because they're so close. the disappearance of Amelia Earhart will always fascinate me.

I really like reading about old asylums and the crazy shit they used to do to patients as "medicine." Lobotomies and such. The sort of stuff that left them crazier than they came in. It's really eerie.

Plane crashes, mysterious disappearances, unexplained deaths, old cemeteres

Disease. I always wanted to be a nurse and anything to do with biology absolutely fascinates me, but I can spend hours watching/reading about all the ways our bodies can go wrong and what can be done to treat them. I picked up a book called The Sick Rose while I was in the Natural History Museum, and it's basically full of detailed (very, very detailed) medical illustrations from before colour photography was a thing. I love it.
