I once encountered a poster on this website who was convinced that any man, including her husband, would happily dump her or cheat on her in order to have sex with a "blonde." I was unable to convince her that there exists such a thing as a man who wouldn't cheat on her. I think a lot of people fall into patterns like that, believing that the world consists entirely of shit people and no one other than themselves could possibly not be shit.

I don't ever make any of my ships known unless they are really boring canon ones. People are really shitty and petty about ships in fandom so I just decide it's best to skip the drama. Can't say I blame them because there are some ships I hate with a burning passion that I might not be able to talk about fandom related stuff with that person if they are super into it.

Though I agree with that other comment, just create alternate accounts and a different persona for your fandom needs so you don't have to bring it up with other friends.

I personally keep a pairing that I ship hard mostly to myself because it's an incest ship and there are a lot of antis in the fandom. So I keep a sock account as a pairing blog and I don't associate it with my main blog. But I'll be damned if I'm going to be friends with the antis, fuck that shit. Drop the assholes, OP. You don't have to let people know what your guilty pleasure ship is, but you sure as hell don't need to be all friendly with the shitty antis.

I tried being friends with antis once.

I started getting disturbed listening to them talk about strangling shippers of a ship with their bare hands and started to distance myself.

Then one of them started aggressively coming on to me for months and I cut it off (had to do it multiple times). Now my tumblr account is terminated.

I almost don't want to believe it, but as I've encountered a person so adamantly opposed to a ship I was digging, despite the fact I also liked their ship, I'm inclined to believe this type of tomfoolery.
