It's pretty common for people who didn't care about a celebrity to start disliking them due to scandals or simple oversaturation.

That is literally the only reason to start hating a character. If I watch anything without any exposure to the fandom I never hate any character, even the blatantly shitty ~problematic~ ones.

Fandom is the only thing making characters and ships hated. I don't get why that is so hard to understand. The mantra "don't hate characters because of their fans" is futile and unrealistic.

I have hated (and loved) characters since I could read, and so have my friends...online, offline; you name it.

We are all certainly influenced by our friends -- and foes -- but again, your statement as such makes zero sense. Human beings have always developed grudges against all kinds of things based on all kinds of things. It ain't "fandom."
