Re: Gripes thread!

I have no patience with people who refuse to pee outdoors or in an outhouse/pit toilet. I am a woman and have to pull my pants down and lean against a tree or log to pee outside and I still manage just fine.

You're mad because other people decide for themselves where they do or do not want to pee? LOL!

... how is other peoples' peeing habits an issue for you?!

It could probably be a problem if you were on a road trip or camping trip with someone and had to go out of your way to find a bathroom for someone.

It's not like someone's demanding you drive 100 miles out of your way to buy beluga caviar for your camping trip because they refuse to eat hot dogs. Being mad because you have to accommodate another person's basic bodily functions is super weird.

I agree that OP is weird if they're really so upset about someone else's peeing habits. I'm just pointing out that there are situations where they could be a real inconvenience.

not OP but I'd quick kick someone out of my camping trip if they were too much of a wuss to actually, you know, camp.

Not OP, but if you're camping and there isn't a toilet nearby, you find a place to squat. If you're somewhere that's pretty safe, you can go find the nearest toilet by yourself, but don't expect anyone to go with you, even after dark.

Toilet habits are (and should be) personal decisions. Getting upset that peoples' personal decisions (that don't really affect you at all) are different from the personal decisions you make is... weird and a touch creepy.

nayrt but have you never been camping before?

Also NAYRT, and seconding the anon above me. The way you're talking about this, it's like you've never been camping before.

When you're inconveniencing others by being too squeamish and uptight to engage in a simple and often necessary aspect of camping, then people are going to be annoyed by that, and for good reason.

Have you trained your nether muscles to projectile urinate?

Re: Gripes thread!

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
How on earth is that necessary?

MTE.

I completely agree. If you're near a bathroom, sure, absolutely, use that. But if the bathroom is way out of your way and you can't go on your own, or a group camping activity needs to be put on hold for twenty minutes until you get back, then dude, seriously, get over it, go out into the trees, and pee.

You have to lean against something? What's wrong with just squatting??

Re: Gripes thread!

(Anonymous) 2017-10-25 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP, but I tend to lean against a tree or something to. I find squatting low to be really uncomfortable and I tend to lose my balance and fall over. But if I do a half squat, there's a risk I'll accidentally pee on my feet.

Leaning against something is easier for me, and there's no risk I'll fall over or pee on my feet.

SA

I have a job that involves a lot of outdoor work, often far, far from any bathroom. I am not droping everything and driving anyone to the bathroom or letting someone take a 1 hour break just to pee while everyone else has to keep working.

Frankly, I think anyone who won't pee in the woods is a wuss, but anyone who isn't with me in the woods isn't my problem and can do what they want.

That reminds me of the time my two friends (C and S, both girls), S's Dad, and I went on a hike when I was 9. My Mom and I were moving to a new house across town and S's Mom and C's parents were helping move. We were getting in the way, so S's Dad offered to take us for the day. He had back problems so he wasn't doing any heavy lifting.

We went back to S's house and someone suggested we go on a hike in the woods at the back of S's neighborhood. It was early February in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1997. It was cold, but there wasn't snow and the sun was out. We were wearing sweat pants and jackets.

So, we head out into the woods. We were having fun- C found an old graveyard and we looked around a bit. Looking back, I think we actually snuck into Fort Bragg. Eventually we came to a small creek. We had been hiking for a while and with the sound of running water, C, S, and I had to pee. We didn't know how to pee outside. S's Dad was all, just go. So we went, squatting unsuccessfully. We ended up with wet underwear and pants.

S's Dad ended up showing us how to go to the restroom in the woods. The walk to the neighborhood was the worst. Thankfully a neighbor near the wood entrance drove us back in the bed of his truck. I have had to use the tips he taught us several times
