I don't hate Scott - sometimes I like him, a lot of the time I am exasperated by him and his decisions, mostly I'm sort of okay with him, but I can understand someone not liking him. He makes terrible decisions (neglecting everything else because of Allison, doing the double cross on Gerard and not telling anyone, letting Blake and Deucalion go, etc.), can be a terrible friend (I don't think Stiles is a perfect cinnamon roll, but he does deserve better than some of the things Scott has said and done to him), and can be so self-righteous.

Tried to kill him, kissed Lydia, didn't give Stiles a chance to talk when Stiles was trapped in the pool by the kanima, didn't listen to him about Matt, worked with Gerard and didn't tell Stiles, didn't really seem all that concerned about Stiles showing up all beat to hell, didn't listen to him about Theo, blamed him for killing Donovan (listening to Theo over Stiles).

There are others, but those are the ones I could think of off-hand.

I agree with both of your posts - the reasoning and the examples. It's rough. Scott has a good heart and pushes for hope and understanding and not abusing because of the power he has (and other non-humans have), but he did not make great decisions as the group's Alpha.
