I doubt most people would yell kink shame. But they would look at you and go, "So what? Fandom likes hot guys."

Also, you don't have to like things.

This.

No offense but I just don't think this perspective is that interesting. It's fine, it s a fine reason not to like it, its just not an interesting point to make like

This is making me laugh way too hard

It is funny because character wise, I'm more interested in the DC universe. Superman has always been my favorite Superhero, and Batman and Wonder Woman are pretty high up there on the list as well. And yet, movie-wise, I think Marvel is far superior. The MCU has become one of my favorite fandoms. I enjoyed most of the X-Men movies. The original first two Superman movies were okay, and I enjoyed Wonder Woman. But otherwise, the DC movies are a bit meh for me (I used to like the Nolan ones more, but they are just too dark for my taste). Of course, I think DC does better with tv, though I only watch one of their shows (Supergirl). But Marvel has clearly for me done a superior job with their movies in nearly every respect.

Marvel seems to fundamentally want to make movies people like. DC seems to fundamentally want to make movies for Zach Snyder, and fan boys who adore Snyder and Max Landis and people like that, to feel smug about. Except Wonder Woman I guess.

DC cartoons are also a huge step above any of the Marvel cartoons as well.

Marvel does movies very well but their TV stuff is not so good, DC owns that(granted I stopped watching Arrow, but I love The Flash and Supergirl).

turning a bunch of D-list characters into household names

if that ain't the gospel truth, idk what is. marvel did a great job, there's no denying that.

I definitely admire that the MCU made such a massive success out of the characters other studios didn't bother to buy in the 90s as they thought no one had heard of them.

Hey man, if you don't wanna join in then don't. It's cool.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-26 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
The female characters in the MCU are outnumbered by the male characters, and are almost all written kind of boring.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-27 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Great, another SJW shitposter reducing characters to their race, but hey, it's okay because they are white! *rolls eyes*

(Anonymous) 2017-10-27 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Poor whites </3 :,(

If it makes you feel any better, I liked Agent Carter.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-27 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
And I think a fair few really like Jessica Jones. And at least some people were happy about Captain Marvel (if a little disappointed Black Widow didn't get her own movie).

Also, Black Panther also seem to be getting a good amount of hype.

I mean Marvel hasn't done that great of a job with their female characters in films thus far... I'm not surprised the boys are getting more attention.

[personal profile] cbrachyrhynchos 2017-10-27 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Cap, Stark, Thor, and The Hulk are the Marvel A-listers who were not contractually on loan to Sony or Fox.

As for "basic white dudes," Marvel and DC have a really hard time keeping their better POC and women out of production hell.

*Talks about D-list characters. Background image sports Avengers poster* K.

People like different things. Fandom is escapism for me. I don't base my fandom choices on some SJW checklist of what's acceptable. I prefer male characters because I'm attracted to dudes. I'm not going to waste my time pretending to like characters to get some kind of Internet Progressive Brownie Points.

I take umbridge at 'D list' actors to household names.

Robert Downey Jr was A list (even nominated for an Oscar for Chaplin) then went off the rails for a while then went back to A list. So I would hardly call him D list.

Jeremy Renner (along with other films) came from Hurt Locker, which was the Oscar winning film of which he was the star- hardly 'D' list.

Chris Evans had already been in a bunch of films, including another set of superhero films.

Scarlett Johansen was in a stack of well received films before Marvel.
Ditto Mark Ruffalo. Both were already known and well respected in the industry.

Paul Rudd was a known and respected comedic actor.

Parks and recs was a pretty well known show. I'd argue Chris Pratt wasn't an A lister by any means but he was somewhat known by people.

Ok, agreed with Chris Hemsworth. He was pretty much an unknown before he was cast.

Sorry just realised I misread that as D list actors. D list characters. Yeah actually I do agree.

As for the rest of the secret meh.

There's an article somewhere about the casting announcement for the first Thor that basically says it's going to bomb horribly because no one knows who the hell Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are. Quite funny in retrospect.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-27 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
This could have been an opportunity for you to post a secret reccing your superior indie movie featuring an all POC cast with 1 brown disabled minor character guy and multiple deep well written LGBT female characters but nope, you had to take the easy route of "let me trash something popular because I'm ~~~not like the other girls~~~." Better luck next time.

(Anonymous) 2017-10-27 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
implying there has ever been a well written lgbt female character
