I was just using my mom’s old iron that doesn’t have an auto shutoff/cooldown, with steam, to iron a Halloween costume. I left it for a couple minutes, tipped it over, and fucking boiling water erupted out of the fill hole all over my hand. I have to work a kids’ carnival tomorrow and none of my costume options would work with gloves, bandages, or burns. Sigh. At least it’s not my dominant hand, but ow ow ow.

Yeah I immediately dumped cold water on it and then held a bag of frozen edamame on it for an hour, and the swelling on the back of my hand went down, now just most of my index finger and that knuckle is red and painful, but not blistered. Once before a con I tipped an iron onto the back of my right hand and had a gigantic weeping blistery scab there for weeks, which was super gross, so this doesn’t seem so bad.

oh shit! put some aloe vera on it if you have some, it's good for burns!
