What’s something that bothers a lot of other people but not you?

There seem to be a lot of people bothered by heroes who sacrifice all the time and are selfless. Like, somehow selfish is the way they should be and being selfish means they are suicidal and need mental health. Okay, occasionally some of them do it obsessively when not necessary and probably do need therapy. But mostly, being selfless is a good thing.

talking on the phone apparently?

I'm pretty introverted and I'd much rather talk to someone on the phone for 50 seconds and be done than exchange 10 emails where I have to worry about tone and format and making myself clear.

I feel the same way about texting.

MTE. I may have to write out what I want beforehand, but it's easier to clear up things than to wait for emails.

Especially when you reply after like two minutes of receiving it and the person NEVER responds.

SAME. Apparently I'm doing "being a millenial introvert with anxiety" wrong because I'd much rather talk on the phone (or in person if I can) than email or text. To me it's so much more anxiety-inducing to text or email because, like you said, there's always tone, and I'm afraid of someone taking something I said the wrong way and getting upset or offended, but it seems like most people in my situation think email/texting are much easier.

Ayrt
God it's nice to hear that. I used to e-mail a lot for a job where my boss insisted we get everything in writing and lots of people can willfully misunderstand or ignore pretty much anything in an email.

If you ask me all these millenial introverts who text constantly and have thousands of Twitter followers are the ones who are doing it wrong!

Not to mention the nerve-wracking wait for the reply.
I hate talking on the phone myself but emails can be just as if not more stressful.

Waiting for food, it really doesn't bother me if it's late, so long as it's warm when I get it and it's what I've ordered, it's cool. (To add to that, waiting in line in general, if I wasn't prepared to wait I wouldn't be here).

Talking on the phone, I'd much rather do that than talk to someone face-to-face and I've actually tricked people into thinking that I'm good at dealing with people due to how I am on the telephone. Nah man, the more barriers there are between me and you the easier I find human interaction.

With you on the waiting thing. Like I'll quite happily wait a while for good food that's had effort put into it than get something rushed and shitty in 5 minutes. A lot of people these days are super impatient. :/

I also tend to go with the view that if the food is taking a while there's probably a reason for it, issues in the kitchen, short-staffed, an order that should have come in that didn't, etc.

Like I'm not gonna be a dick to the already stressed out staff.

(Had that once where me and the bf were in a restaurant and it was a busy night, party in the back and all, and they had three waitresses working. Three. Yeah, not gonna get on their case when that happens frankly, we can't wait).

Yeah, that's another good point. My partner is a chef and some of the shifts he's had have been ridiculous, it sounds like such a stressful job and like you say, the last thing you need is customers being dickish when you're already rushed off your feet trying to do 50 things at once. I think some customers forget that their food is being prepared by people and not machines.

I had a friend who worked as a dessert chef for a few years, I never envied her one bit, it sounded like madness tbh. Like I tip my hat to people who thrive in that environment, it's certainly not for me, lol.

Yeah, you have to be a certain kind of person to be able to function in that sort of job I guess. I used to work in a small care home and always got so stressed out when it was my turn in the kitchen, even something super easy like cheese on toast or soup for 20 people. I don't know how chefs do it. Too much pressure for me.

Completely agreed. Sometimes there are issues that come up at a job that you just can't help or control.

Yes. Even venomous ones are cute, as long as they are in the Zoo behind glass.

Lizards, snakes, noisy cicadas, reptiles in general, birds messing on my car. That's my fault for leaving it out. Following or going under the speed limit. People using welfare or food stamps (honestly there are so many other things in life to resent).

Chewing sounds. It just doesn't bother me if someone's not being intentionally rude about it. Let the poor bastards enjoy their food imo

In retail, customers can be a real pain in the ass, but some of them really aren't that bad. I hated working with people who complained about a customer putting them in a position to do the job they're paid to do.

I worked at a shoe store and this girl kept getting sent back for different shoe sizes and styles, and she was complaining. Like, wtf? That's what shopping is, it's trial and error. Even if they don't end up buying the shoes lol that's your job, it's doing the least. The customer wasn't being malicious, actually she seemed really sweet and excited to be getting new shoes ffs
