(Anonymous) 2017-10-29 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)I don't know, there's probably a lot of factors that go into these schedules, like distribution contracts, the release dates of other movies, holidays, the school calendar, seasonal weather, elections, etc. That's going to vary from country to country.
Also, I think the reason Hollywood movies used to be released so much later outside of the US is because they would run the movie in the US, then ship the same physical film prints to other countries, as that was a lot cheaper that making more prints from the get-go. Now, either it's no longer as expensive (especially with digital) or piracy makes it worth the expense.
