The California Roll may have been invented in Vancouver, by Hidekazu Tojo. But it also may have been invented in LA, by Ichiro Mashita. Wiki claims LA and Mashita is the more popular attribution among food historians, but when I google it I find just as many websites going with Vancouver and Tojo. Plus, Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has honored Tojo for the invention. So.

Vancouver FTW!!! (Not that I'm biased or anything.)
