How do you distinguish between "Thing A definitely is a riff/ripoff of Thing B" and "A and B have similar aesthetics" ?

They don't. DD characters are coded to urban gay stereotypes. OW is superheroes. And we're talking about fanart here, not any IP released by either game company.

Thank you for weighing in, but I was actually hoping that OP would answer my question.

You are either really thick or pretending to be, neither is very flattering.

I dated about half of the Dads in college (they were not dads then), and notice many of them at Pride events. (Curious fact, the "Gays for Trump" group down here mostly seem to be "Craig.") For a while, I styled myself as a "Robert," but it really didn't fit. It's really baffling to me why people are tinhatting so hard that obvious gay archetypes had their origins in a Blizzard property, but I suppose as long as you're not harassing creators regarding your conspiracy theory, it's mostly harmless.

Yeah you still don't get the point. By now, I'm not sure if you're still willfully obtuse or seriously this thick.

For me "inspired" is closer to "similar aesthetics" than "ripoff". In this case I know there's a great deal of characters being visually similar and have been drawn by the same artist (I mean, if you have your own artstyle, there would be no surprise if you draw two different handsome blonds same way with the similar face), but then again when your main character artists actively likes and draws similar characters from the popular franchise, well...
I think to really find out if it was in any way inspired by OW one would need to track down when exactly the main artist started working on DDADDS and if it was before or after they started drawing OW fanarts?? And to find out if the main artist was the main character designer, too.
