being a grownup

On the plus side, I never got married! Yay! That was the part I dreaded most.

The Fifth Element.
I don't know what I was expecting, exactly, but it was way wilder, and cheesier, and a LOT funnier.

That movie is literally one of the best movies ever. *-*

Adult stuff like filing taxes. I always thought taxes were this impossible thing that took weeks of working on. These days, a simple tax filing takes like..30 minutes.

Right? I started working at 15 and luckily my dad was a banker so he did my taxes basically up until even a few years after I moved out, so when I started doing it myself I was terrified it was going to be horrible and complicated, but luckily because I (genetically) am a very good record keeper, it takes me about 30 minutes or so on the first day I can file them. It's awesome.

I know a few people who've never done their own taxes and are convinced they couldn't and surely a tax preparer is saving them a ton of money and protecting them from the IRS Attack Squads. Sure, maybe their financial lives are way more complicated than I realize and they have good reason for not doing it themselves, but maybe they're just scared.

Yeah, if they just have a simple W-2, Turbotax is perfectly acceptable and easy.

It's been really smooth for me so far.

I get the sense that it gets, like, exponentially more complicated if you have dependents, or assets, or investments, or multiple revenue streams, or anything of that nature, though.

My college paid for TurboTax so I've been doing my taxes since I was 17... and I'm not even American.

Of course now that I'm starting to own properties and getting into investments, it is slightly more complicated than back when I just had a 10 hr/wk campus job.

My Dad used to spend weeks on the taxes, in misery. Now I have an accountant (I'm self employed and it helps a lot!), and fortunately he decided to work with her, too. Much less painful

Death.

I expected that the creators of South Park may some day make an episode addressing its rather large shipper base.

What I wasn't expecting was 1) Creek becoming CANON and 2) It being the most adorable fucking thing I've ever seen in my life. I don't even think I'm exaggerating. After playing The Fractured But Whole the words "DON'T TOUCH MY CRAIG!!" go through my mind several times daily. I'm bloody hopeless! XP

Supernatural. I kept hearing about these "underwear models" but they hardly ever even strip down to a t-shirt. :(
