I know this is old so the likelihood of being seen is low, but to clarify.

I would be fine with a beta who gave me feedback on plot, characterization, pacing, things like that. What bothered me was that this beta would just go in and rewrite, delete, add in, wherever she felt like with no indication that she'd done anything. That was what bothered me, since I essentially needed to go over the fic again with a fine toothed comb and compare it to previous versions to find out what she'd changed. I would greatly prefer someone who says "This part is boring, fix it," to someone who just... takes over.
