Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

Fandom hates her because 1. terrible actress, and 2. how much of a total bitch she ended up being to Dean.

I don't understand why everything that involves disliking a female character automatically goes down to "jealousy".

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-23 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No, honey, you hate her because she fucked Dean and you didn't.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Dean is a fictional character, and I will probably never meet Jensen Ackles.

I'm pretty sure that I dislike her for legit reasons, please stop putting words in my mouth.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-23 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Please stop copypasting your same retarded comment all over the place. We heard you the first time. And it was a pile of bullshit then too. You're just another female-character-hating fangirl. Fuck off.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
So what's with the hostility?

I don't hate characters because they're female, I hate them because I don't think they're well written, and besides there were a lot of females on the show that I liked just fine.

I don't see why this has to be about me hating women on the show just because I'm female too.

And I like the uncalled for insults, I so totally deserved that because of what I did.

Remind me what I did to deserve that? I can't seem to recall...

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-24 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Do you hate the men who aren't well written on the show, too? There are a hell of a lot of them. Or is it only bad writing if the character in question has a vagina?

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Its not about gender for me, really, there are some men on the show that they have written pretty shitty, and some women they have written pretty shitty, its just people to me.

I don't see OOH MAN or OOH WOMAN I see people.

I'm not making this an issue about gender, so why are you?

Why does it have to be that the only reason I'm allowed to hate her is because she's a woman, that's a really stupid reason.

tl;dr, I'm genderblind, if the character sucks and is written crappy, I hate him/her regardless of them having an innie or an outtie.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-24 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Great! Name one badly written male SPN character you hate as much as you hate Cassie. There have been so many horribly written male characters -- you should have no problem coming up with one.

As for being gender blind, I'd suggest reading this: http://hth-the-first.livejournal.com/53171.html?format=light. She's talking about race, but the same principle applies.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Sam in season 1. Well that may not have been the writing, but I didn't really think that Jared was very good in the beginning.

The kid from Bugs, Matt, he felt like a really bad plot device for us to make the comparison of what it was like for Sam and John, which was done terribly because "Ooh I'm so weird cause I like bugs." is a really stupid analogy and I didn't see any real tension between him and his dad that Sam and John had.

Plus the kid was really whiny over nothing.

Harry and Ed, in Hell House and in Ghostfacers, I think they were supposed to come off as loveable somehow, but I thought all the geekiness and their immaturity was overkill that did nothing but annoy me.

Corbett I didn't like in Ghostfacers because it felt like he was put in their for a punchline..."You've got to be gay for that dead intern." I didn't like what they did with his character, but that's just my opinion.

And this goes for the writing of Supernatural in general- Get on with it. They do so many things over again and I just want to watch it grow.

I think the link you posted is F-locked, but I'm intrigued by what it has to say.

Okay it's working, thank you.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see why race/gender/sexuality/whatever has to be important, why can't we just be people?

Maybe I'm just naive (probably), but wouldn't it be better if everyone realized that those things really aren't important?

I think that little issues like that are only important because other people go to great lengths to mostly subconciously stress that they are. They're only "important" because we as a community of the world perceive them to be.

I just don't see what's wrong with equality between everyone, I mean, isn't that what so many minorities have been pushing for, for ages and then we're supposed to ignore that?

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-24 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
The only people who think these things aren't important are the people who benefit. You're white, so you think everyone who isn't should just realize that everything is fine. You don't experience racism (and no, don't tell me about all your black friends. Really, just don't), so you can't begin to comprehend how it could affect anyone else's life. We should just all pretend that there are no differences in people's lives and experiences because of the color of their skin (or their gender), because it's much more comfortable for you to think that.

You're not naive, you're drowning in privilege that you clearly have no idea exists and have not even begun to examine. You're the one who wants to ignore reality, and you're doing a fine job.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Actually I'm black thank you.

I'm not ignoring reality, I just think that race/gender/blah blah blah isn't important, that's not what I look for, I don't expect certain things from certain groups, I see the individual.

Its not for "comfort" that's how I was brought up, that is how I think and this is really starting to make me mad, because you're making all kinds of assumptions and declaring what I think for me. No thank you, I know how I feel and what I think, and what I believe.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh and I don't experience it? Really?

I've dealt with that crap since preschool when the other little brats told me that my dirty skin meant I couldn't play with them.

I've dealt with it in grade school, when my teacher told me to give up classes because I'd just be on the street "with the rest of them" anyway.

I've dealt with it from other kids in my middle school, thinking that its cute to stick in pieces of paper with a bunch of "white circles and then one "black" circle with a cute little title "Which of these doesn't belong?"

I've had saleswomen from stores breathing down my neck because they assumed I was going to shoplift, my own stepfather telling my mom that I'm going to end up a crackwhore with "my people", and I've had my best friends parents make her stop hanging out with me because she can't be associated with "my type"

Please don't tell me that I don't know what its like, because as a matter of fact I do.

And it hurts. Which is why I don't do it to other people, because I hate it, so why should I turn around and be no better than the people who judge me?

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-24 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Not judging people is not the same thing as pretending race and gender don't exist, except in the sense that neither is possible. You, like everyone else, judge everyone you meet, every single day, and like everyone else, your judgment is affected by race and gender. You may not be conscious of it, but you're still doing it. Your daily life is constantly affected by your race and gender, because others judge you and react to you based on those things, just like you judge them and react to them based on those things. You can pretend this isn't true as much as you like, but it doesn't change the reality.

I assumed you were white because your "the world is magical fairy land where race and gender make no difference whatsoever, and anyone who thinks they exist is the prejudiced one! If only we pretended everyone was white, the world would be a better place!" cluelessness usually comes from white people, because they're the ones who benefit from it.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
"You can pretend this isn't true as much as you like, but it doesn't change the reality."

I just realized something.

I never said that it wasn't true or it was unreal, that is just my outlook on things and how I see people, my opinion and such.

I am aware that other people do that, and right now all you are doing is proving another point to me and everyone else when I tell this little anecdote.

So here is this for you loud and clear-

"the world is magical fairy land where race and gender make no difference whatsoever,"

RACE AND GENDER DO NOT MATTER TO ME, I NEVER SAID IT WASN'T REAL, I JUST SAID IT'S NOT IMPORTANT WHEN I MEET PEOPLE.

AS IN ITS NOT A PRIORITY OR SOMETHING I THINK OF CONCIOUSLY, WHETHER I DO UNCONCIOUSLY ISN'T A FACTOR BECAUSE SOCIETY AND CULTURE HAS SYMBOLICALLY EMBEDDED IT INTO OUR MINDS AND VERY DNA.

I'm sorry for losing my temper, really I am, I am trying really hard not to be a jerk, because when you, even after berating me, calling me names, making fun of me, still don't deserve being bitched at, that's not fair.

All I'm trying to do is have a decent conversation, without tossing around insults and looking down on the other, but so far its been nothing but a one (wo)man effort.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-24 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
So, if someone called you a n**er, you wouldn't mind, right? Race doesn't matter to you, so that's no more harmful than someone calling you a jerk. And all those incidents of racism you've experienced, they didn't actually bother you, did they? Because race isn't important. Everyone experiences exactly the same thing, no matter what color their skin.

If you woke up tomorrow and you magically had white skin, your life would be drastically different. If a white person woke up tomorrow and had black skin, their lives would be drastically different. If you don't realize that, you haven't been paying attention.

I know you don't get this, and I know it's probably not your fault that you don't get it. You're surrounded by a society that tells you the best thing you could ever hope to be is a white person, and it's hard not to take that to heart (watch the doll test in A Girl Like Me--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWyI77Yh1Gg--and think about it the next time you think unconscious prejudice "isn't a factor"). But your whole idea that living in blissful ignorance somehow makes you more evolved is flat-out wrong, and really sad. Living in ignorance just makes you ignorant.

So you hate Gordon as much as you hate Bela, right?

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Gordon was well written, Bela wasn't.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

(Anonymous) 2008-06-24 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Gordon, like most minor characters on SPN, was terribly written. You just didn't notice because he didn't have one of those icky vaginas.

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] goingvogue.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Um, no I liked Gordon, I thought he was well written, and that is my opinion.

And I've got news for you...I LOVE VAGINA.

LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM.

Girls are hot. Girls+The Winchesters=Holy fuck me hot.

I like girls, I like girls with Sam and Dean. I like girls with other girls...I LOVE VAGINA AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE COCK.

LOVE VAGINAS LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM.

Its not because they're female. Sorry that's not my personal reasons, but that's how it is.

And sorry about the rude superficial screaming about that, talk about TMI.

Now, is it alright if you stop ripping on me and we can be a little bit more polite about this?

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] kelleigh.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Heck I love Cassie because she fucked Dean. A quality minute of television, right there.

And, from what I see, someone like Cassie is conveniently forgotten when fandom talks about the "slut-a-thon" we're led to believe Dean went on early in Season 3. At least she had a name and a story. But, to each their own...

Re: 114, 122, 127, 136

[identity profile] llivla.livejournal.com 2008-06-23 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
how much of a total bitch she ended up being to Dean.

Lol whut.

It's very simple, actually. He left to go ghost-hunting, and she totally failed to promise to wait forever for him while he screwed waitresses across the country. What's to be confused about? Obviously, she's a total bitch.
