Yeah Steve definitely stepped up this season, he was great helping Dustin and protecting the kids and he handled the situation with Nancy pretty well especially when she herself was being kind of shitty to him.

Steve was not a big favorite with me in Season 1 but he was great in Season 2. I like Nancy and Jonathan fine myself but I think I like Steve better.

yeah this seems to be a very common feeling. Steve went from stereotypical jock in S1 to a decent guy by the end of the season, and he's been pretty awesome all of S2. (His hilarious 'mentoring' of Dustin is adorable.)

He wasn't my favourite in s1, didn't like him so much at the beginning but he got better by the end and in s2 he's just kept up with being a good dude. He's been one of the stand-out characters for me this season.

I love EVERYTHING that happened this season. I liked Nancy and Jonathan in S1 and was happy they finally hooked up.

Steve was best mom. Period.

Joyce was still epic mom and I loved her whole thing with pretyy much everyone, ESPECIALLY Hopper.

I LOVED HOPPER.

The Snow Ball was cute all around and I loved all the romantic pairs.

The only thing I wasn't happy about was Max being shit on. I hope in S3 she's been fully accepted into the party.

AND I WAS SAD WE HAD NO JOPPER KISS. The hug and everything at the end was pretty great, but GAH do I need that ship to happen like burning!!

Pretty much this, season two was *epic*.
I felt like Max was an accepted part of the party by the end of the season.
Totally loving all the ot3 and mom!Steve fic out there right now.

I think Max and Mike and Eleven need to have a Conversation. And that conversation better include at least one solid apology to Max from Mike for being a dick. If it also leads to Eleven and Max being besties, I would not complain.

I can so get behind this.

I ship Jopper too, but after having Bob get killed off by the Demodogs having Joyce and Hopper kiss or hook up would have (IMO) felt really gross and off-putting.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-10 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Plus, honestly? Hopper's got issues. I'd like to explore that whole "black hole" thing and also make sure he's not going to turn evil or die from that face full of Upside-Down spores he took before he hooks up with Joyce. Also, RIP Bob.

HOPPER IS A SIDE OF BEEF, YO!

I find Nancy /Jonathan boring and wish the show would back off of that ship. Steve turned out great and tbh I prefer him without Nancy, too.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-10 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Jonathan's boring. Compared to Steve and Nancy, who I would prefer to remain just friends, he hasn't been given much character development. In Season 2, Nancy's taking down The Man and Steve's raising the kids, meanwhile, Jonathan's relegated to Nancy's driver and occasional booty call.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-10 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
During the big fight scene, Jonathan was just clutching his mom in the back while everyone else was gearing up.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Jonathan really didn't get anything to do this season except hooking up with Nancy. No character development, and he was pretty much playing second fiddle in the side plot with little to no interaction with the main story line until the end. I hope they let him be a little more dynamic in the next season.

I watched 4 episodes of season 1 but mehed out possibly because I always watched 80s and 90s films with huge delay so no nostalgia factor for me. Mentioning as Jonathan and Nancy were meant to be some stereotype subversion while Steve was pretty ordinary to me, hence I liked him. Nancy was a good turn around for me as my school was biased against people similar to her while loving Jonathans - in result I find Jonathan creepy (or did in those 4 episodes). Did not watch more as Eleven bothered me or rather gendering her seemed weird even if it might have been her choice later on plus it seemed dad forced that but yeah ... not for me.

Same anon as above: In case anyone asks about Eleven - I'd feel same if show made her a boy.

(Anonymous) 2017-11-10 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe this is a stupid question, but what bothers you about gendering Eleven? Wasn't she always supposed to be a girl? I mean, I watched S1 a while ago so I might have forgotten things, but she never seemed to be nb to me.

Farrah Fawcett hair spray, neva 4get!

I think everyone loved Steve in this season, for good reasons. So did I.
I think my favorite moment of the season is during the scene when he and Dustin are putting stuff in the trunk of Steve's car as Dustin is speaking on his walkie-talkie and Steve just makes that face of "How the fuck have I got involved in this monster business again BUT HE'S JUST A KID I CAN'T LEAVE HIM ALONE!" and I laughed at it for a full minute lmao.

He was just very nice. He clearly matured a lot and I'm glad he was this involved in the season after disappearing for a bit. I liked him well enough in the first season because he actually was mora than just a dumb bully and was constantly walking the thin line between dumbass teenager and caring young adult, and I feel like he made the leap in the right side in season 2.

Best Mom srsly.

They really watered Jonathan down this season. :/
