Me too. I don't really get into fandom until I feel like the source isn't meeting my needs anymore. But by then I'm way late to the party.

I got into SGA-fandom late but it wasn't really an issue since there was a lot of fic to plow through, not much discussion though but that didn't bug me so much for that fandom.

L4D and L4D2 though I definitely missed out, I was like 3 years late to that party. All the discussions had been had, most of the fic had been written and the LJ comms were all dead.

I never watch movies in theaters anymore so I'm always late to movie fandoms. I draw fanart as well but my fanart is always at least a year late between not seeing the movie on time and my own busy schedule.

Oh man, all of them, really. I'm not good at getting into fandoms on the ground floor, so to speak. If it's a movie then it's almost guaranteed that I won't see it until it's out on DVD.

Latr, but I'm about Martha/Simm!Master.

I've meet people abhorrently against this ship. I like it for all the obvious fucked up reasons.

SGA. By the time I got into it all the good and halfway decent authors had left. It's been nothing but utter shite for years now. Meaningless, OOC fluff with terrible writing and characterisation. And the plots, oh God the plots. At least the old stuff is still around.

Final Fantasy VIII (8).

I got into it because of Advent Children - I noticed pictures for that around, got into FF7, FF7 led to FF8, and other FF games. The only two I have played right through are 7 and 8.

While FF7 was gearing up because of new canon material, FF8 was still an old fandom, and it was easy to go down internet rabbitholes to find no fic at the bottom.

I also feel DBZ was old when I got into it, in about 2002. It had a lot of internet rabbitholes that had nothing or were just collapsed (i.e. dead websites). That was during the era when Angelfire still existed, and before FF.net was huge.
