Dream Adaptations (inspired by #9)

(Anonymous) 2017-11-11 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
What things would you really wanted to see adapted into another format? How would you want to see it done? Dream actors/directors/networks you have in mind?

I'm too lazy to make a secret about this, so this thread is perfect.

I would love to see an animated adaptation of Claudia Gray's Firebird trilogy done in like watercolor style.

Lord of the Rings as a TV series.

Victorian Romance Emma as a BBC period piece.

A western adaptation of Ace Attorney.

Pokemon Adventures as anime.

Just want to point out (in case you didn't see the news) that this might be happening

Huh. Do we know who might be planning it?

I'd love Victorian Romance Emma as BBC drama too, but also because I need more Victorian Romance Emma in my life. It was so sweet and fluffy.

I know. Also, I'd be extremely curious about what they'd do with Monika and Hakim.

I'd prefer a Silmarillion TV series, personally. I'm sure it would be a matter of tearing the rights from Christopher Tolkien's cold, dead hands, but if that were no object, it would be really cool.

I'd settle for Emma being dubbed with appropriate accents. (ARIA blasted through its Kickstarter goal, so a girl can dream!)

Well, I'd love to see a good video game adaptation but that'll never happen. ;_;

I'd also love a series adaptation of World War Z on HBO. Dream directors would be the team that did Band of Brothers so it would be super realistic.

I want this too, but I want the team that made American Vandal to do it.

One of the best fictional documentaries I've seen in a long time.

I'd really like to see an adaptation of one of Patricia McKillip's books (or maybe a TV series that's more in the general style).

It'd be cool to get something that's more in that romantic, whimsical, magical style of fantasy, rather than the more gritty and epic style. And her books are really good, and seem like they'd have a lot of material for a series, and a lot of really fantastic imagery and visuals that would translate well onto the screen.

For some reason, I really want stories about the Batfamily animated in the style of Don Bluth. I have no idea why. There's plenty of Batman animated stuff out there and I'm not some kind of big Don Bluth fan. Somehow, when reading comics, I just started imagining what I was reading that way. I want Nightwing/adult Dick Grayson and I want Batwoman/Kate Kane and Tim and Cass and Steph.

I really a want a lush, live action historical fantasy adaptation of Megan Whalen Turner's Queen's Thief series. Emphasis on the 'historical', in the sense that I'm here for the politics and the snark and Gen/Irene/Sophos being awesome. If the entire series wouldn't work, I'd absolutely accept just 'Queen of Attolia'/'King of Attolia'.

Guillermo del Toro needs to do a Phantom of the Opera adaptation at some point.

I want an animated TV series for The Dark is Rising done by the studio that did Book of Kells and Song of the Sea.

Georgette Heyer

(Anonymous) 2017-11-12 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I would really the BBC to get together good British actors to do a bunch of TV movies based on her regency romances. Taron Egerton could play Freddy and Jessica Brown Findlay could play Kitty from Cotillion. Thomas Brodie-Sangster could play twins Evelyn and Kit from False Colours.

I've actually been very spoiled because someone made A Wrinkle In Time into an adorable graphic novel AND they're making what looks to be a good movie of it, AND my most beloved childhood book Eagle of the Ninth got an absolutely baller film adaptation with a great cast. But I think what I want is for the two sequels to Little Women, Little Men and Jo's Boys, to get movie adaptations. Actually no, tv series adaptations. Actually what I want is a really really long tv series which adapts all three books reasonably accurately to the source material (Probably a good 2 seasons per book to do it justice) and does it well, with a good cast. I would wet my pants in delight were this ever to be done. BUT NO1CURR (among tv producers anyway) about Little Men or Jo's Boys >:(

I'd pay to see an Star Wars: The Old Republic film. Live action.

And a Golgotha TV series. Supernatural gunslingers, pirate queens, and swashbuckling gay mormons!

it's impossible because he's dead but I would have loved to have seen a version of Edgar Allan Poe's works illustrated by Edward Gorey.

Animorphs as a properly animated series. Either on Netflix or Hulu.
