man, OP, you make me want it back. maybe we can make it happen...

I mean, granted, I think the primary mechanic for killing off fanshrines was the death of the free website host. Geocities, angelfire, etc. Blogs were the first easy replacement but as time has gone on and social media took over, blogs became harder and harder to format to look like a shrine page (and function like one). Or, at least, it's harder to find people putting the effort into making the pretty coding and then sharing it in an easy-to-find place.

but, hey, it's free to make journals and comms here on DW, so even if they're not as easy to customize without some help, maybe that's one way to do it? I'll do it if you do it, anon!
