Re: Controversial/Unpopular Opinions

I kinda feel you, anon. I remember all my teachers saying that all we needed were smarts and a college degree to succeed. I had some who would tell misbehaving kids that they'd never do better than McDonald's and disparaged all jobs that weren't white collar. My parents were the ones who were more realistic. Yes, they did encourage me to go to college and aim for a professional career, but they also told me that there was no shame in an honest day's work and to never think I was too good for any job. I did everything "right", but I couldn't get a job in my chosen field and got a job to pay off my loans. It's disappointing, but not the end of the world. For some of my friends who got the idealistic speech at both home and school. It's been a lot harder for them. Even though they're being productive members of society, they feel like failures who've hit the end of the line.

I can't stand job snobbery.

If we didn't have people who drove garbage trucks and maintained sewers, we'd be living in our own filth.

this is an excellent point.
