Re: Controversial/Unpopular Opinions

Unchecked capitalism is largely a force for evil. I'm not sure capitalism was ever inherently good. The history of capitalism is littered with too many robber barons, children in coal mines and the likes, human rights abuses, and selfishness, hoarding, cruelty, and evil. Is there a better system? I think if there isn't, humankind won't survive.

Careful regulation...fair laws and humane labor policies...if these were implemented, capitalism could perhaps have something more and better to offer the world. But the one percent having most of it, the destruction of world resources and waste involved in the need to "grow" the GDP / economy (no matter the cost to humans and the world), that's all pretty awful

How is this unpopular? You'd probably get a lot of Tories and GOP to agree in principle. I think the far-out classical-liberal growth-over-all types are a relatively small but loud minority.

I'm American, and over here the GDP is worshipped and the news sites blame consumer caution for tanking the economy, the season, etc. Feel guilty about Saturday ing money. Also they act like the stock market rising helps the economy or anyone but wealthy asshole. The GDP is a fucking shell game sometimes
